Rescue Mission Review
By your spooky pal Shaylee Robson ♡
It's just in, I got my copy of the 25th anniversary edition of Amelia Rules! What Makes You Happy, and I am gonna write my review on what I think. I'm sure my good friend Joshua Stauffer will make his review on this (if you're reading this, hi buddy. ^^)
First off, the cover has so much personality, while the other copy I have is of Amelia jumping into the puddles while the ninjas are lurking in the background. This cover, as noted by the photo reference, has Amelia playing Tanner's guitar, doing the splits and behind her is the small town houses, trees and power lines. Godspeed, Lady McBride!
Rescue Mission begins with Princess Powerful greeting the reader, as she's mist famous for, and talks about how things were bleak until she made friends with the nerdy kids and began playing superheroes. Until she realized that she's the only one wanting to pretend, as we cut to the Gathering of Awesome Super Pals are hiding in the bushes looking toward a particular house (I'm guessing either the blue one or the yellow one), where evil lurks.
No, it's not the Joker, but Reggie's oldest enemies to date, the nefarious Bug and Iggy! No surprise, I'm a big fan of these guys, I have for 20 years.
The mission in question, Pajamaman's beloved Red Captain action figure is missing, and it's likely that Bug and Iggy have it held captive, so the plan is to distract them while they retrieve the action figure. Rhonda questions this options until she liked the idea of distracting them, the meeting was interrupted by the fan favourite, Mary Violet, who's asking if she could “join the cult” (she meant club, right?)
Reggie shoves MV out of the way telling her they don't need her help and he can't be responsible for her getting hurt. While Reggie resumes the meeting, Mary Violet takes it upon herself to resolve the situation, she returns giving Reggie something. A paddle ball.
Confused, Reggie asks where she got it and how, simply put by the goth Raggedy Anne herself, Bug and Iggy were playing with the paddle ball, and doesn't go into detail on how she got it. One panel shows she jumping Iggy while he was playing with the toy, shown by his shocked face.
MV asks if she could join the club, again, which we know she does and becomes Ultra Violet. Reggie then has a look of dread when he realizes that the action figure might have been at his house the whole time. They snapped in fear when they now see that Bug and Iggy are now absolutely furious at the heroic team, demanding their paddle ball back. At first, I thought that Iggy called her a mame (even google questioned what the hell I was asking for), but I just realized he had called her a mime, lol.
Now, the team runs away from the angry bullies, stealing their paddleball, and Amelia talks about life not getting weirder from here, as we see the ninjas being introduced.
Overall, another great story! I'm glad to see my favourite characters again, all things considered and the buildup to certain elements, like MV becoming a crazy hero and the ParkView Terrace Ninjas introduction. While it was for a moment, those goobers were important to me.
I am now curious on the latest adventure, let's hope that it's a Crazy one! Get your copies and follow G-Ville Comics for future updates!
Stay tuned, my spookies!

Brilliant review, Shaylee! I literally just read it now because I was staying at a log cabin in northern PA for the weekend, and there was no internet up there. I’m on the road heading home now, and I’m just a few minutes I might be passing through Jimmy’s hometown, Girardville!
Thanks, Joshua. Hope the cabin was a lovely time for you. Do you go up there with family often?
